Day 28 - MutMut's Last Entry

Well. My secret doggie assignment is about to end. Mutmut would stay as an undercover doggie agent (this could be very true since I like to hide under the blanket these days).

Overall, I think my human did a good job of losing 5% of his weight. I also did a good job in keeping him on track.

If you want to keep in touch with Mutmut, please email write2skylar@gmail.com =) Skylar (doggie mom) is my official spokes-canine.
Bye bye

Day 27 - The car was frozen

I woke up this morning and had a short walk with my human outside the hotel. Unbelievably, our car was frozen. After over 10 minutes of warming up, the car finally was in good shape to drive. Whew. I think I do miss San Diego. My huamn might have lost another 1.5% of his weight. seems like he is doing well...

Day 26 - Mutmut earned the "Smart-Looking Dog" Title

I walked outside today with my new Duke shirt and people has been praising me as a smart dog and they always gave me a good smile. The most important thing as a dog is to make people, especially my human, happy. I think I have been doing that well. Despite the tough weather, the new hoddie has kept me warmed. i think my human care about me a lot.

Only a few days away for Mutmut to end this incredible journey and moved back to San Diego.

Day 25 - MutMut's new Duke Shirt

Day 25 - My human twisted his ankle

After a very long, good walk on Sunday, my human and I went back to the hotel. On Monday, when he came back from the fitness center, he told me that he twisted his ankle. I can see the pain on his face. He was pushing hard for the intensive walk but I guess he pushed just beyond his limit. I should keep an eye on my silly human once in a while so that he doesnt do silly things like this.

the weather is really cold at Durham. the temperature dropped to 42'F last night. Mutmut moved undersneath the blanket and slept next to the warmest part of my human - his tummy. =) it felt good... i love my human afterall...

Day 21 - Mutmut went to enjoy life at Camp Bow Wow

(Photo: doggie cam - Camp Bow Pow. Mutmut on the left)
Mutmut is back again. well. for the past few days, my human thought that i was a little bored. So he let me stayed at a doggie hotel called Camp Bow Wow. I got my report card back with flying paws [opps. I meant score]. I slept on time, ate on time, and even met two new doggie friends. It was fun there. I saw my human on the scale again this morning....and he lost...drum roll....another 1% of his weight. I can tell you that he is looking better everyday now.

The weather at Durham has turned cold these days. Even Mutmut felt cold from time to time. Time to ask my human to let me stay in the bed with him at night.

Day 17 - Mutmut missed his human mom

My human mom visited us over the weekend. We went to Asheville and other places. I saw foliage for the first time in my life. it is so pretty. My human-mom left early this morning. I missed her a lot. She gave me a lot of goodies food to eat and she is very nice to me.... two more weeks to fly back to San Diego to see them..

Day 14 - Mutmut met a new friend

I met a new friend. My human introduced her to me yesterday. She is kind and she loves to cuddle me quite a bit. I guess being little and fluffy gets good attention from other human=) see? i was happy in the photo as well.

My human said that I am "a scary cat." i have no idea what he meant. I am only weary of strange things and also worry about things a lot more than other dogs do. Usually i dont like to be hugged by people whom i dont know too well. But this lady made an exception. by the way, i am a "DOG' not a cat.

Day 13 - Mutmut is a little home-sick

I woke up this morning and realized that my whole family is not here. I missed my doggie mom (Skylar - Welch Corgi) the most. Here are some photos of Skylar...and La Jolla where my pack and I would go during weekends.

I lick-attacked my human this morning at around 5am since he snores so loud and I was home-sick. He reacted just like Skylar did in the photo. belly-up. =)

I wanted the big, yummy bone but Skylar said "No way, go away"

(Mutmut - 4 months old)

Skylar is the smartest dog i know. Other dogs might be big and fast. But skylar is loyal and smart. Mutmut is just happy and silly on the other hand.

La Jolla sunset. (my human took the photo)

Day 12 - My human has lost some weight

I saw it with my doggie eyes yesterday. my human has lost some weight. ok. I cannot tell you how much. but say that it is roughly 2% of his weight from last week. how's that? =)

I used my doggie charm to make him to walk an extra 45 minutes last night at the Duke campus. i think i am doing my job well here.

Day 11 - Con't: Mutmut learned Taichi

my human is acting weird today. He told me to he is going to train me as a taichi dog by walking and moving very SLOWLY. A dog with four legs is meant to be fast...why walk slowly? what is taichi anyways? i think he must have taken this "taichi" class somewhere...

On the different note, my human got a digital photography book. He said he can use me as a model. But then again, he asked me to NOT move or just move slowly. Mutmut is now licking his paws (unlike human i dont scratch my head).

Day 11 - Mutmut is alive...

Sorry that I didnt post any new entry yesterday. My human took me out to have another long walk around Dukes east campus. I found something very, very interesting...hopping rabbits. They hop even faster and better than the squrriels. I will now lay my eyes on these little creatures since i think they will be good "chasing" targets. hey. I am a dog.

Day 9 - Duke and new hobby

My human took me out this morning for a long walk at the main campus of Duke. There was a Marathon going on "DPT 5K" something like that. People started calling me puppy.. I am big and strong now. Not a puppy anymore...

But..i did discover my new hobby...."squirrel chasing and spotting"...these little things run fast. i love to go after them...

Day 8 - Con't

I walked around the Duke East Campus today. it was a fun walk. There were a lot of squirrels, dogs and other humans. Mutmut is glad that it didnt rain this afternoon.

Day 8 - End of week one

Its official. We have been in Durham for a week. I really like it here. It will be better if Skylar and my human-mom are here as well. I curled myself up into the blanket last night and moved closer to my human. Its the warmth and the love that I like. I licked my human until he woke up this morning since he was almost late for his 8am appointment. Doggie got what he wants. =) the weather is very gloomy today. maybe not a chance to go out again? hum....

Day 7 - Mutmut is tired

After a long day at the grooming place yesterday, I felt very tired even after a good night of sleep. My human was very excited when he picked me up yesterday and he said that he found a place called 'TigerDirect Outlet" here at Durham. He mumbled something along the line of "it is the same as Fry's Electronics." i have no clue what he was trying to say.

There is a 50% chance of rain this evening so my exciting trip of walking to the Duke campus might need to be cancelled. what should a puppy do if it rains too much?

Day 6 - Mutmut gets groomed

I am heading to petsmart this morning to get groomed. Well. I didnt ask for it. Doggies just love to have the same smell all over their body. Why take a bath if thats the case?

I sneaked up and slept on the same pillow with my human last night. he snores! But nothing beats the feeling of being close to the pack.

Day 5 - Mutmut fell off the bed last night

I dont think i normally would sleep walk. But in the middle of last night, I slowly drifted toward the end of the bed and "dul lop"...i was on the floor. Of course, my human didnt wake up to pick me up. So i slept under the bed for a few hours.

My human left early again. I didnt cry this morning though. A strong puppy! But I still miss him though.

Yesterday, i learned to take one step at a time for the staircase. wolf wolf! baby-steps toward an urban-civilized dog!

Day 4 - MutMut cried

I cried a little this morning when I realized that my human was going to leave so early this morning. He let me stayed in the bed with him last night and I was the happiest dog on earth. I hope that he will be back soon.

By the way, he has already started looking better. Not that he was THAT bad looking to begin with. He looks less chubby

Day 3 - The inevitable velcro dog

Since my normal pack (Skylar and my human parents) is not here in Durham, I decided to transform myself into velcro dog, and decided to not let my only human parent leave my sight. It has worked so far. I am getting a lot more attention than i normally would otherwise.

Day 3 - Con't

I am here at the hotel by myself. My human has now been gone for 2 1/2 hours . (Yes, I can count too). I did try to go through the refrigerator, but i realized that the canned-meat is too high up for me to reach and all the food at the bottom are fruits, drinks and milk. hum...not too appetizing for my hungry tummy.

Day 3 - Duke Fitness Program

Day 3 started without much excitment. I had my much awaited breakfast and am almost ready for an afternoon-nap. Did i tell you that my favorite place for napping is underneath the bed? Why? I donno. it is dog-logic and not easily understood by non dog-minded animals.

My human took off for his fitness program soon after lunch. I am now guarding "our" belongings here at the hotel.

In case you didnt realize, i typed all the entries. maybe i can be a journalist one day for "Bark" Magazone.

Day 2 - Con't

I have been keeping my eyes on my human. He has been doing well so far. he ate 24 oz of steak, 2 hot dogs, 5 regular coke, etc. Just kidding. He has been eating fruits, tea, water, soup, etc all day long. On the other hand, my diet hasnt changed much: Science Diet and water. Oh my human got me some canned meat as well. I will have a good feast tonight.

Day 2 - MutMut made it to Duke University

Today, my human and I went to Duke University fo the first time in our life. Duke has a smaller campus but it is in a very beautiful setting. I dropped by undergraduate admission to see if they would like to take late application but no one was there to see me. Duke garden sure was pretty with a lot of people dropping by for their special private events.
Can we go that way to go to the garden?

Come-on. Are you out of breath already?

Why just birds? Dogs should have the same treatment as well. Dont you think?

Day 1 - Con't

By the way, I barked at a lot of people today since they looked strange to me. But they still smiled and let me smell their hands afterward. Trully, "Southern Hospitality" Mutmut thinks..

Day 1 - Airline travel is no fun for dogs

I followed my human owner into one of his carry-on bag and sneaked onto the plane. I can honestly tell you that air travel is not four-legged animal friendily. From this 17lb canine's point of view, this red-eyed flight is appropriately named since my eyes were all red. But my human took care of me during the flight with ice-cubes, water, etc. He even bought me a bag of hash-browns for my breakfast. yum-yum...

At around 11am, we were driving around in Durham. More stories to follow...

[After thoughts], I hope that my human-mom didnt pay too much attention about the bag of hash-browns I mentioned earlier. Otherwise, this yummy-potato food might be out of my treat-list for a long time...
